This is the year to become a maker! Learn the art of rustic chair making with Virginia Juried Master Artisan Joe Sheridan. Workshop participants will construct a child’s size chair over the course of three days with hardwood twigs. You will learn the unique skills of joinery and seat weaving.
“I like to tailor my classes to fit both beginner and experienced chair-makers,” says Sheridan. “It’s really about creating the space and time to work with your hands and explore your relationship with the material.”
Sheridan has 20 years’ experience making rustic furniture and teaching classes at local universities and public schools.
The class will be capped at twelve participants and held at Montfair’s cozy reception lodge in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains near Crozet, Virginia. Cabins are available at a discounted rate to workshop participants. Students will learn in the relaxed atmosphere while looking out over the small lake with mountain views.
Joe has a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts and over 20 years of experience teaching at local universities and schools. The three day workshop will be held on Monday June 4, Tuesday June 5 and Wednesday June 6 of 2018.
