UNC-A Music Faculty Showcase Concert

UNC Asheville faculty musicians and composers will perform a varied program of jazz, classical music and more, at Lipinsky Hall, 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21.

This concert is free and open to everyone, and will feature:

Hwa-Jin Kim, piano

  • Nocturne in C-sharp minor, op. Posth. by Frederic Chopin
  • “The Serpent’s Kiss" from The Garden of Eden by William Bolcom

Steve Alford, solo saxophone

Duet: Inez Redman, violin and Ben Smith, cello

  • Music by Béla Bartók

Matthew Richmond, vibraphone

Richard Shulman, piano

  • Original jazz compositions

Trio: Tim Doyle, guitar; Brian Felix, piano; and Matthew Richmond, vibraphone

Fletcher Peacock, bass trombone

Duet: Wayne Kirby, electronic music, and
Lei Han, visuals

  • Hun Dun and Wei Shi - Original compositions by Kirby with visuals by Han

Duet: Zack Page, bass, and Jacob Rodriguez, saxophone
