Great American Tapestry: The Many Strands of Mountain Music

The Transylvania County Library will show David Weintraub’s new film on the history of Appalachian music on Thursday, September 14 in the Rogow Room. The documentary, “A Great American Tapestry: The Many Strands of Mountain Music”, tells the story of the southern mountain’s musical birth and evolution through the blending of Scots-Irish ballads, African-American string bands, and traditional Native American music.
Local musicians will perform as an opening act beginning at 6:30 pm. The 70-minute film starts at 7:00 pm. A brief discussion with the filmmaker will follow.
