UNC Asheville’s Concerts on the Quad are back with four free Monday evening shows, featuring Americana/roots, jazz, funk, rock, and soul music. The free concerts take place June 19 and 26, and July 10 and 17, from 7 - 8:30 p.m. on the UNC Asheville Quad. Attendees are invited to bring chairs, blankets, and picnics to enjoy along with the music. Meals, treats, and drinks will be available from concession stands on the Quad.
June 26 – Westsound – This quartet led by two brothers, Weaverville natives Randy and Oscar Weston on keyboards, guitar, and vocals, and featuring vocalist Regina Duke and drummer Michael Leyshon – has been bringing lively soul and funk to parties and festivals around Western North Carolina for many years. Covering songs by Sam Cooke; the Four Tops; the Temptations; Stevie Wonder; Earth, Wind & Fire; Kool and the Gang; Michael Jackson; Rick James; Prince; James Brown and more, Westsound is likely to have dancers of multiple generations fill the dance area in front of the Quad stage. westsoundproductions.net
